Attio quickstart guide

The DocuPotion app for Attio lets your team generate documents (quotes, NDAs, contracts or any other custom document) from any Attio record in just a few clicks, with the finished PDF attached straight to the record. This guide takes you from installing the app to your first generated document in about five minutes.

Install the app and create your account

Install DocuPotion from the Attio App Store. After installing you'll be taken to DocuPotion, where you can sign in or create a free account. Once you've signed up for an account, you'll be asked to Connect DocuPotion to Attio. Hit the Approve button to continue.

You'll then be brought back to your Attio dashboard.

Connect DocuPotion and Attio

DocuPotion and Attio each approve the other once. The Integrations page in DocuPotion shows a live checklist of both steps, so you can always see what's left. Before generating any documents, you'll need to complete the below steps:

1. Connect your Attio workspace: in DocuPotion, open Integrations and click Connect. You'll approve the connection on Attio's screen and land right back in DocuPotion. This lets DocuPotion read your workspace's fields for mapping and attach documents to records.
2. Approve the app's access to DocuPotion: back in Attio, open Apps, choose DocuPotion, and click + Connect on the workspace connection, then approve. This lets the app generate documents on your DocuPotion account.

If you've already completed the Connect DocuPotion to Attio step (see prior section), your checklist will look like the below image:

When you click the Connect button in Step 1 of the Connections tab, you'll see the below screen. Click confirm to proceed.

Once you've completed the 2x connection steps, the DocuPotion app section of your Attio dashboard will look like the below image:

Create a template

A template is the reusable design of your document, with a merge field wherever record data should appear. In DocuPotion, go to Templates and click New Template. You can:

• Design it in Google Docs: connect Google Drive and use a Google Doc with merge tags - see this section of the docs for details on building templates with Google Docs

Build an automation

An automation maps Attio record fields onto one of your templates, so your team can generate documents in one click. In DocuPotion, open the Automations tab and click + New automation:

1. Pick your template and give the automation a name your team will recognise.
2. Choose the Attio object it runs on: deals, companies, people, or any custom object.
3. Map each merge field to a record attribute. You can reach one hop into related records, for example the name of a deal's associated company, and map line items from related records into tables.
4. Choose delivery options: the PDF is always attached to the record's files; you can also save a copy to Google Drive, email it, or send it for e-signature.

Create your first document

In Attio, open a record of the object your automation uses and click Create document in the record's actions. The dialog shows exactly which data will be pulled from the record and what will happen next. Click generate, and the finished PDF is attached to the record's files.

To see a record's documents at a glance, add the DocuPotion Documents widget to your record layout: it shows the document count, the latest file, and live e-signature status.
