Adding margins to your template

Margins add whitespace around the edges of each page in your generated document. They help keep content away from the page edges and give your documents a clean, professional look.

How to set margins

  1. Open your template and click Settings in the left sidebar.
  2. Under the Margins section, enter values for Top, Bottom, Left, and Right.
  3. Use the unit dropdown next to each field to choose your preferred unit (px, mm, or in).
  4. Click Save Changes.

Once saved, the editor canvas will display a light grey overlay showing the margin areas. Components will automatically snap to stay within the margins when you drag them.

Tips

  • Start with common values. For most documents, 50px top/bottom and 20-30px left/right is a good starting point.
  • Margins apply to every page. If your template spans multiple pages, the same margins are applied to each page in the generated PDF.
  • Combined margins have limits. The total of your left + right margins cannot exceed 60% of the page width. You will not be able to save your margin settings if they exceed these limits.
  • You can use different values for each side. For example, you might want a larger top margin to leave room for a header area, or a wider left margin for binding.
  • Set margins to 0 to remove them. If you don't need margins, leave all values at 0 (the default).
